With reliable, safe and accessible transport networks, we can unlock opportunities to create a thriving, inclusive and sustainable economy.
Transport East is advocating for the transport investment needed across the region.
Strategic Investment Programme
We have drawn together a programme of projects and packages to address the most pressing transport issues in the region. This programme is focused on delivering the four strategic priorities in our Transport Strategy.
The Strategic Investment Programme sets out the East's priority road, rail, passenger transport and active travel projects. These schemes are being progressed by our local authority partners, Network Rail and National Highways and are at various stages of development.
We will use this document to make the case for ongoing government investment in these projects.
Making the case to government
We have built strong relationships across government, both with officers and parliamentarians. We make the case at every opportunity for our vision for transport in the East and our role in accelerating the delivery of national and regional priorities. Alongside advocating for increased funding certainty for our local authorities to plan and deliver better value transport.
With the right investment we can help grow the regional economy while boosting efforts to meet net zero transport. We have galvanised regional support to push forward the East’s live investment programme and get planned new projects built faster.
We work with government and other Sub-national Transport Bodies across England to develop new ways of tackling long-term transport challenges such as reducing carbon emissions from transport.
Working with government bodies
We work closely with the Department of Transport (DfT), Network Rail and National Highways to make sure they understand our priorities and reflect them in their future investment programmes. We do this through regular meetings, input into developing work and formal consultation responses.
